的 Medical Laboratory 技术 program prepares you with the knowledge 和 skills necessary to perform general tests in all laboratory areas, including blood banking, 血液学, 免疫学, 和微生物学. Working under the supervision of a medical technologist or pathologist, you will learn to test 和 analyze samples for clues to the absence, 存在, 程度上, 和 causes of infections 和 diseases. You will also learn:

  • Clinical laboratory techniques
  • Lab equipment maintenance
  • Sample collection 和 storage procedures
  • Results reporting 和 record keeping

Graduates are eligible to take the national certification exam from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Academic Affiliate Program

Hawkeye has academic affiliate arrangements that allows you to complete the first two semesters of the Medical Laboratory 技术 program at an academic affiliate college, then complete the rest of the program at Hawkeye. Academic affiliate colleges include:

  • North Iowa Area 社区 College (NIACC), Mason City, Iowa
  • Northeast Iowa 社区 College (NICC), Calmar 和 Peosta, Iowa

In order to be considered for the Medical Laboratory 技术 program, students must provide the 靠谱买球app推荐 office with official documents showing completion of all requirements. 的se documents must show:

It is the student’s responsibility to:

第二步: Required Biology Course 和 Program Admittance Score Requirements

In order to be eligible for the Medical Laboratory 技术 program, all students must:

  1. Successfully complete, with a C- grade or higher, a minimum of one year of high school biology or any college-level general education biological sciences course.
    • While Hawkeye 社区 College is accepting Pass/Fail grades as an institution, due to accreditation, 靠谱买球app推荐是 not accepting College or High School Pass/Fail grades for any admission criteria.

  2. Meet minimum score requirements in math 和 literacy. For appropriate college success course placement, work with your program advisor.

While working to meet these requirements, students will be accepted into the Medical Laboratory 技术 pre-program.
